He is advisor to the HR Strategic Issues Council, a membership group of human
resource executives who meet twice each year and sponsor research on current
issues of common concern.
Dr. Walker is widely known for his speaking, writing, and professional activities in the
human resource field. Jim was a founder of The Human Resource Planning Society
and served as its charter president. He is author of many articles and seven books, including
the award-winning book, Human Resource Planning (1980), and Human Resource Strategy (1992),
both published by McGraw-Hill. He is author of Perspectives in HR Leadership and co-author
of The New HR: Strategic Positioning of the Human Resource Function!, both recently published
by the Human Resource Planning Society. He and Karl Price are currently working a new book
on strategic human resource leadership.
Jim and his partners created a week-long HR strategic leadership program, often called The Human
Resource Business School. It is conducted as a customized program for client companies in the U.S.
and internationally. The program has also been conducted as an open-registration executive program
at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration at The University of Iowa. Jim served on the business
faculties at Indiana University, San Diego State University, and Arizona State University. He was a
consultant with Towers Perrin, a human resource consulting firm, for fifteen years. Based in New York,
he was Vice President and Director of Human Resource Consulting Services before establishing The Walker Group in 1986.

Besides being a Partner in The Walker Group, Bill is Executive Director
of the HR Leadership Consortium. He has over thirty years of experience
in the full range of human resource management processes, including
international executive training and development, succession planning,
career development, compensation and benefits.
Mr. Stopper joined The Walker Group in 1994 after a distinguished
career with the IBM Corporation, where he was Director, Human Resource
Development. In this capacity, he directed leading edge training
and development programs for IBM human resource professionals and
executives worldwide. Several of these programs were developed and
conducted in unique partnerships with Cornell University, Columbia
University, and Georgetown University.
Bill also was responsible for human resource policy and planning.
IBM's approach to coordinating and communicating policies was benchmarked
as a model by other large multinationals. In that capacity, he:
- Oversaw global HR policies, combining
strategies, principles of operation, and roles into a comprehensive
HR management system, including TQM processes and competency-based
skills management.
- Contributed to restructuring and
reengineering the HR function and participated in the establishment
of IBM's national HR service center.
Bill earned his BA degree from St.
Mary's College of California and his MBA from the University of
Connecticut. He is on the Editorial Board of Human Resource Planning
and the Business Advisory Board of the Columbia University School
of Social Work. He holds memberships in the Human Resource Planning
Society, the New York Human Resource Planners, and the Society for
Human Resource Management. He is an adjunct professor in the graduate
program at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, teaching
courses in strategic planning, organizational change, and leadership
in a global environment.

Karl consults with companies in:

utilization and performance of people in an organization
Previously, Dr. Price was a Principal
at Towers Perrin, serving as a senior member of the Organizational
Research practice. During his fifteen years at Towers Perrin, he
conducted assignments with a wide variety of companies, including
manufacturing, services, energy resources, financial services, pharmaceutical,
and health care organizations.
Prior to joining Towers Perrin in 1981, Karl was a Professor at
Temple University and Chairman of the Department of Human Resource
Administration. He is author of numerous articles on human resource
and general management topics, and is co-author of three books:
Issues in Business, Management Today, and The Glass Ceiling Today.
He has also co-edited five books on human resource planning and
human resource management. Dr. Price served as Editor of Human Resource
Planning, the journal of the
Human Resource Planning Society, and was an officer and board member
of the Society. He currently serves as Chair of Research. He earned
a BS degree in Business Administration from Drexel University and
a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Applied Economics from the
University of Pennsylvania.

Linda consults on the design and implementation of organizational learning strategies, change processes and best practices. She has consulted with many companies to enhance individual, team and organization effectiveness and to develop top talent as well as internal capabilities. Her areas of specialty include learning and development, organization change and transition, and people-related, pre- and post-merger planning and integration. Her corporate experience includes serving as:
- Senior Vice President of Learning & Education at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. In addition to her role as the head of Schwab University, she was led numerous HR initiatives and development programs in support of the company’s growth strategies.
- Vice President of Strategic Change for Kaiser Permanente, and previously VP Human Resources. Linda facilitated organizational restructuring, cultural transformation efforts, the adoption of best practices and the infusion of new practice models.
- Vice President of Corporate Education & Human Resources for Travelers Insurance, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Linda’s corporate experience is complemented by her ten-year tenure as a Professor at the University of Connecticut with a specialty in adult learning and adult development. As a Kellogg fellow, she received over $3 million in grants to develop innovative programs and demonstration projects.
Linda earned an M.S. in Management and Administration from Pepperdine University and a Doctorate in adult learning and adult education from Oregon State University.

Harriet was previously a consultant
for eight years with Brecker & Merryman, a New York human resource
management consulting firm, where she conducted and participated
in a wide variety of assignments in these areas. Previously, she
was Manager of Compensation and Benefits at Computervision, Inc.,
in Bedford, Massachusetts. She earned a BA from Barnard College
and studied at Cambridge University and The American School in Athens.
